As the people of Aurora, CO continue to heal from the devastating and senseless attack that took place in their city last week, others are making their support and condolences known in any way they can. There have been official statements, phone calls and speeches made in the wake of the mass shooting that took place last Friday but yesterday, The Dark Knight Rises star Christian Bale paid a visit to Aurora, CO to lend his support in person. First, Bale and his wife Sibi paid a visit to the hospital to meet with survivors and the medical staff who saved the lives of so many … then paid a visit to the memorial site to pay tribute to the 12 people who died in the shooting.
Christian Bale, who stars in The Dark Knight Rises, is visiting the victims of the Aurora, Colo., shooting spree who were injured while watching a midnight showing of the movie. According to a local Denver TV reporter, Bale was seen entering the hospital where many of the wounded are being treated. One of them, Carey Rottman, posted a Facebook photo of himself with Bale at his bedside. “Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Bros.,” an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Bros. corporate communications, tells the Denver Post. “The patients were really happy to meet Bale,” hospital interim president Bill Voloch was also quoted as saying. “They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale.” Bale, who was in Europe with the rest of the cast to promote the film when news of the killings broke last week, released a statement Friday offering his condolences to the victims and their families. “Words cannot express the horror that I feel,” he said Friday. “I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”
CNN shares this video report on Bale‘s visit to Aurora:
It certainly sounds like Christian Bale brightened up the day of a lot of folks at that hospital, which I’m sure will go along way in aiding the healing process. That Bale and his wife wanted to spend some time at the tribute site to mourn the fallen just shows how far his compassion goes. Like so many other people, I’m sure he was drawn to the tribute site so that he can first pay his respects and then come to terms with the horror that transpired in Aurora. I think it says a lot about Christian Bale that he wanted to visit in person the survivors and the real life heroes at the hospital.
