Prodigy might be busy promoting his new book, "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy," but that doesn't mean he's lost his thirst for music. According to his partner-in-rhyme Havoc, Mobb Deep fans can expect to hear a new EP from the Queens duo this summer.

Their most-recent studio album, Blood Money, was released on 50 Cent's G-Unit Records back in 2006, but Havoc told MTV News that the deal has since expired due to a clause in the contract that allowed Mobb Deep to become free agents after 50's label was dropped from Interscope and switched to EMI as its distributor. Hav insists Mobb Deep and G-Unit are still on good terms, but this time out, the two-man rap group is looking to remain completely independent.

"I feel that we've been in the business long enough to totally know what to do," he said. "The whole thing right now is to really capitalize on our talent and what we do instead of having all these major labels take, take, take. We might as well reap the rewards of our success."

Havoc said the eight- to 10-song EP, which the group plans to call Mobb Deep, will drop in August and will be the first Mobb Deep project released since Prodigy was released from prison in March.

"Sometimes you have to man up and do you your own thing," Havoc told MTV News. "We can do this. We've been in the game for years, so it's like, 'Let's do it. The time is now.' "
