<P>The girl power will be at an all-time high Thursday, September 6, thanks to the ladies nominated for Best Female Video at the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2012/">2012 Video Music Awards</a>. With everyone from pop mavens to R&B goddesses duking it out for a Moonman this year, whoever ends up taking it home might just have the most diva moment of the night.</P><P>Most of the nominees in the Best Female category have been there and done that at the VMAs. But there's one young lady who has yet to taste the glory of a nomination. That rookie, however, will have to fend off these VMA vets for that coveted trophy. So will Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj or Selena Gomez go all the way? The Marine-themed clip follows a heartbroken Perry as she shaves off her hair and enlists for service. Lady Gaga Confirms New Album's Title Is ARTPOP

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s fans won't have to wait until September to learn the name of her next release after all. After tweeting out a photo of her <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/08/03/lady-gaga-unveils-new-tattoo-pic/">new tattoo, which reads ARTPOP</a>, last week, she took to Twitter over the weekend to confirm that the ink is indeed the name of her 2013 album release.</P><P>"Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALIZE the title, *its all in the details* good morning twitter!" she <a href="https://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/232114376067403776"_blank">wrote</a> on Sunday.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Lady Gaga Has The Title And Concept For Her Next Album" id="vid:717202" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Mother Monster originally revealed her plan to <a href="/news/articles/1686922/lady-gaga-new-album-title.jhtml">drop the album's title</a> in September back in June before apparently getting antsy and releasing the name a month ahead of schedule. It's a title she's had in mind since MTV News spoke to her last year.</P><P>"I've started writing it and I have the name for it, and all the concepts are <a href="/news/articles/1675458/lady-gaga-next-album.jhtml">beginning to flourish</a> and take place," she said in December. "I'm excited to put it out, but it's not done yet. So I'll put it out when it's done."</P><P>Gaga has been making time to record <i>ARTPOP</i> while on her <i>Born This Way</i> tour. She reportedly enlisted the help of <a href="/news/articles/1690576/lady-gaga-whitesnake-guitarist-doug-aldrich-new-album.jhtml">Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich</a> for the album. The twosome hit the studio with Gaga's longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow in Los Angeles.</P><P>She also recently teased fans with a new song, <a href="/news/articles/1690196/lady-gaga-new-music-car-new-york.jhtml">blasting it out of her car</a> while in New York City. She even implied that the dance track would be the first single from the new album. DJ White Shadow produced the track.</P><P>Gaga has also been playing her new piano-heavy song "Princess Die" while on tour. During one stop, she opened up a bit about her next album. "Let's just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote <i>Born This Way,</i> I demonstrated a sense of maturity," she said. Beyonce Backs U.N.'s World Humanitarian Day: Watch Now!
Singer will film live music video for 'I Was Here' to support campaign.

<P>Last week, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> posted a <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2012/07/26/beyonce-posts-mysterious-announcement-wipes-hard-drives-when-she-leaves-studio/">mysterious message</a> on her website that simply read, "Leave your footprint on 19 August 2012."</P><P>The cryptic note had many fans wondering just what Queen B might be up to come mid-August. Well, the answer is here, and Beyoncé not only wants her Beyhive to leave their footprint that day, but she'll also be doing the same.</P><P><iframe width="415" height="233" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yPPBKyIceWY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></P><P>The superstar has joined forces with the United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations for World Humanitarian Day on August 19. It is "a global day to celebrate humanity and the spirit of people helping people," according to a press release.</P><P>The VMA-nominated singer will be in New York City for the big celebration, along with her "I Was Here" songwriter, Diane Warren. The ladies will be on hand at the U.N. General Assembly Hall to film a live music video for the <i>4</i> ballad that they will then donate to the cause. It will be released that same day.</P><P>Beyoncé appears in a black-and-white PSA for the campaign. A close-up of her face, sporting the <a href="/news/articles/1689944/beyonce-baby-blue-ivy.jhtml">braids she debuted a few weeks back</a>, shows her outdoors. "It's high time we rise together," she says. "Do one thing for another human being — nothing is too small. It begins with each of us. Make your mark and say 'I was here.' " Also including footage of people across the world, the message closes out with the track playing and the diva saying, "One day, one message, 1 billion taking action for each other. I'll see you then."</P><P>The <a href="http://www.whd-iwashere.org" target="_blank">World Humanitarian Day website</a> launched this week allows folks to post the "individual acts of good" they have done in their communities. By the day of the event, they hope to reach 1 billion people with a single message. Communities will do their part through commemorations and public events.</P><P>"We all see the headlines, and we think, 'What can I really do to help?' " Beyoncé said in a statement. "World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care."</P>

Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?
During band's rehearsal break for Sunday's Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test.

<P><b>UNIVERSAL CITY, California</b> — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you'd think the <a href="/music/artist/foo_fighters/artist.jhtml">Foo Fighters</a> — set to perform at Sunday's <a href="http://www.mtv.com/ontv/movieawards/2011/">Movie Awards</a> — would know their "Potter" from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a "wand" reference and pinpoint its origin?</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="The Foo Fighters Take The Movie Awards Quiz" id="vid:660301.id:1664959" width="240" height="211"></div><p></P><P>Right? Before we put MTV News' magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a "Twilight" character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? <P>When <a href="/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> and <a href="/music/artist/guetta_david/artist.jhtml">David Guetta</a> hooked up for the French DJ's latest album, <i>Nothing but the Beat,</i> the two superstars created a chart-topping smash, <a href="/news/articles/1670301/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You,"</a> that combines Guetta's ear for house beats and Usher's ability to convey a range of emotions with his voice. It's a song that has really stuck with fans of all genres of music. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="David Guetta, Usher Found An 'Incredible' Song To Collab On" id="vid:713197" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>The track — a swirling pop ode to not giving up on love in the face of adversity — struck Usher with its emotional core. </P><P> </P><P>"David Guetta is an amazing artist," he told MTV News last week at a <a href="/news/articles/1674705/justin-bieber-usher-advice.jhtml">Pencils of Promise charity event</a>. "We talked for many years about working together, and we found a record that was incredible." </P><P> </P><P>Usher said it was a song that resonated with him personally. "I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I've actually been on in the last three years," he said. "Traveling all around the world, music sounds different. The LP dropped earlier this year and also includes <a href="/news/articles/1674756/american-music-awards-nicki-minaj-david-guetta.jhtml">Nicki Minaj, who performed with Guetta at the AMAs</a>. </P><P> </P><P>"It's one of my favorite songs," he said. "It's just, I'm a DJ, so I want to make people dance always, but I also want to give emotions. <P>Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1673689/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-video.jhtml">video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You,"</a> featuring Mariah Carey. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Rocks Rockefeller Center" id="vid:715720" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>Before the strings of lights were illuminated, performances from Michael Bublé, Katharine McPhee, Big Time Rush, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond warmed viewers up. But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic <a href="/news/articles/1673334/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-song.jhtml">"Little Drummer Boy,"</a> which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track. </P><P> </P><P>"God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks. </P><P> </P><P>In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. In 17-second promo, Spears seems to be taking a page from Simon Cowell's judging book.

<P>If anyone thought <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> might be the nicest person on the <a href="/news/articles/1685206/britney-spears-x-factor-concept.jhtml">"X Factor"</a> judges' panel, then they might want to think again.</P><P>In a new 17-second promo for the show, Spears shows off she's got quite a lot of critical bad-girl sass lurking deep down inside that sweet Southern demeanor. Some of her choice quips from the super-short teaser, posted on the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-its-britney-spears-against-the-music-and-contestants-in-x-factor-promo-20120711,0,6469234.story" target="_blank"><i>Los Angeles Times</i></a> website, include, "You can't destroy that song, sweetie," "Very predictable" "Bad to the bone," and "You definitely don't have the 'X Factor.' You know these people are driving so far out of their way to come in and to perform and put themselves out there," Spears explains, in the clip posted on <a href="http://idolator.com/6709182/britney-spears-says-she-tries-to-keep-x-factor-critiques-positive-oh-really-watch" target="_blank">Idolator</a>. "It's really kind of hard to tell some of them no."</P><P>She added that she has a very visceral reaction when there's a bad audition. "I usually can't look when they're bad. I can't look," she said, adding that she has also seen a lot of talent while out on the road. "There have been extremely talented people, very good."</P><P>Now that the audition process is over, the next step for Spears and her "X Factor" judges is boot camp."Wow can't believe @TheXFactorUSA auditions are over," Spears <a href="https://twitter.com/britneyspears" target="_blank">tweeted</a> on Tuesday. Justin Bieber Aimed To Flex Acting Chops With 'As Long As You Love Me'
Pop star talks about his burgeoning acting career and his upcoming basketball flick with Mark Wahlberg.

"And I feel kind of like the whole 'Romeo and Juliet' story and how the dad didn't want [me] to be with the daughter, I just thought that was the perfect [match for the lyrics] 'I'll be your silver, I'll be your gold.' I'll do anything for you to be my girl."</P><P>Given that the video fully display Bieber's burgeoning acting abilities, he admits it's something he's hoping he can try out more and more in his career. And, yes, that includes his long in-the-works <a href="/news/articles/1686835/justin-bieber-basketball-movie-mark-wahlberg.jhtml">flick with Mark Wahlberg</a>.</P><P>"I hope to do some more acting. I've only done a few things like <a href="/news/articles/1645054/justin-biebers-csi-story-line-will-be-explosive.jhtml">'CSI,'</a> but I really want to do some more acting," he said. "Mark Wahlberg and I, we've been working on a script for a long time now... I mean it's like a little basketball concept."</P><P>With a Hollywood career on the horizon and a <a href="/news/articles/1691181/justin-bieber-believe-tour-lucky-fan.jhtml">massive tour</a> set to kick off in September, Bieber shared that he still finds time for himself when he can.
