RoboCop has received quite the makeover for the upcoming remake of the classic film. Jose Padilha's "RoboCop" is faster, stronger and more accurate than we last saw him, at least according to a licensing video that has leaked.
The video comes from IMC Licensing (via /Film) and has since been removed, but the info that's been reported from that behind-the-scenes look at the movie tells us a lot about the film. The video is obviously a bit old as it didn't have the new "RoboCop" release date, but the rest of the information seems to be accurate. Find out more after the jump.
First up, /Film reports that "RoboCop is fast in this film, unlike the original." Add that to the fact he's not seen missing a shot in the licensing video, and we've got ourselves something of a superhero here. Though there have been set photos that show RoboCop in a black suit, it turns out that he starts the movie in a silver outfit similar to the one in the original 1987 Paul Verhoeven film. That later gets replaced with the updated version, though his gun remains the same style as it was before.
A producer says in the video that the technology used for RoboCop will have military applications, and that will result in "massive battle scenes with version of the robot." The ED-209 has also been updated with "lots of new technology." In addition, /Film says that the story for "RoboCop" is "more or less the same, at least at the beginning."
"RoboCop" is due in theaters on February 7, 2014. The film stars Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton.
